Chronologically, these are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>1688<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (I) McGlamry registers his cattle mark on 14 March 1688 in Somerset County. His future wife, Sarah Keene, is listed next to him as registering her cattle mark the same day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1717<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (I) McGlammery [sic] purchases 300 acres of Partner&#8217;s Choice from his father-in-law, William Keene, on 27 May 1717<a href=\"#footnote_0_28\" id=\"identifier_0_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Dryden, Ruth T. Land Records of Wicomico County, Maryland, 1666&ndash;1810. San Diego: self-published, 1980, p. 311\">1<\/a>. Partner&#8217;s Choice was patented 12 June 1682 in Wicomico County by Christopher Nutter and assigned to William Keene.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1721<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (I) McGlamery dates his will 25 March 1721.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1723<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (I) McGlamery&#8217;s will is probated in Somerset County on 21 October 1723<a href=\"#footnote_1_28\" id=\"identifier_1_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Cotton, Jane Baldwin, and Roberta Bolling Henry. The Maryland Calendar of Wills: Wills from 1720 to 1726, Volume 5. &nbsp;Baltimore: Korn &amp; Pollock, Inc., 1917, p. 149\">2<\/a><a href=\"#footnote_2_28\" id=\"identifier_2_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Maryland Indexes (Probate Records, Colonial, Index), M, 1634-1777, SE4-13, Image No: 001199, Box 3, Folder 48\">3<\/a>. He names sons, George, Edward (II), and William, and wife, Sarah.<\/li>\n<li>Edward (II) Macglamary [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of Jno. Heatch (John Hitch) in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_3_28\" id=\"identifier_3_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1723, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-1-1214\">4<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>George (I) Maglamary [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Tax List as a dependent in the household of Sarah Johnson, along with her son Purnell Johnson, in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_4_28\" id=\"identifier_4_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court&Acirc;&nbsp;(Tax List), 1723, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-1-1231\">5<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1724<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (II) Maglamry [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of William Hitch in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_5_28\" id=\"identifier_5_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1724, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-2-4143\">6<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>George (I) Maglamary [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Tax List as a dependent in the household of George Hutchins, along with his sons George Jr. and Henry, in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_6_28\" id=\"identifier_6_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1724, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-2-4249\">7<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1725<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (II) Macglamere [sic] is a witness to the will of his stepfather, William Elgate, Jr. on 31 January 1725\/26<a href=\"#footnote_7_28\" id=\"identifier_7_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Cotton,&nbsp;Jane Baldwin. C1812-15-46748\">35<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1740<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (II) Maglammery [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a head of household in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_35_28\" id=\"identifier_35_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1740, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-16-50738\">36<\/a>. Living with Edward as dependents are two adults who appear to be slaves, Sambo and Pheby [sic] (no surnames are given).<\/li>\n<li>George (I) Maglammery [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a head of household in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_36_28\" id=\"identifier_36_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1740, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-16-51080\">37<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1743<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The will of Edward (II) Meglamery [sic] is dated in Worcester County on 19 April 1743<a href=\"#footnote_37_28\" id=\"identifier_37_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Will of Edward Meglamery. Worcester County Will Book JW2, folio 3, in in Keddie, Leslie and Neil,&nbsp;Worcester County, Maryland, Wills,&nbsp;1742&ndash;1759, JW3, p. 2\">38<\/a>. He leaves the plantation to his son, John (I). His unnamed wife is made executrix and given her third share. The remaining six children, four boys and two girls, receive the remainder, with the boys to receive their share at age 18. The will is proved on 25 September 1743.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1744<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>James McGlamry [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of Major Dorman in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_38_28\" id=\"identifier_38_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1744, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-18-57203\">39<\/a>. James is likely the son of Edward (II).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1745<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>James McGlanry [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of Nehemiah Hearn (one of five Hearns living next to each other) in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_39_28\" id=\"identifier_39_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1745, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-19-59677\">40<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1747<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>James McGlamry [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of Nehemiah Hearn (one of six Hearns living next to each other) in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_40_28\" id=\"identifier_40_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1747, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-21-64506\">41<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1748<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>John (I) Meglamre [sic] witnesses the will of John Gray of Somerset County on 26 January 1748.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1749<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>John (I) Meglamme [sic] witnesses the will of John Driskill of Worcester County on 7 February 1749<a href=\"#footnote_41_28\" id=\"identifier_41_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Will of John Driskell. Worcester County Will Book JW2, folio 55, in in Keddie, Leslie and Neil,&nbsp;Worcester County, Maryland, Wills,&nbsp;1742&ndash;1759, JW3, p. 22\">42<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1751<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>John (I) Maglasimey [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of David Hailes in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_42_28\" id=\"identifier_42_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1751, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-25-75170\">43<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1752<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>John (I) Meglamery [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of Jean (John) Gray in the Manokin 100<a href=\"#footnote_43_28\" id=\"identifier_43_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1752, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-26-76715\">44<\/a>. Two slaves, Sambo and Phebe [sic], who have the same names as the two slaves of Edward (II) in the 1740 tax roll, appear as dependents in the Gray household. They also appear in the Gray household in 1747 and 1751, though John (I) is living elsewhere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1753<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ann McGlammery [sic] executes the administrator&#8217;s bond for the estate of Elisha Webb in Worcester County on 28 January 1753<a href=\"#footnote_44_28\" id=\"identifier_44_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Skinner, V. L., Jr.&nbsp;Abstracts of Worcester County Estate Docket 1742&ndash;1820, Brookville, Maryland, June 1993, p. 80\">45<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>John (I) Mcglomry [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of William Venables in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_45_28\" id=\"identifier_45_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1753, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-27-80666\">46<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1754<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>John (I) Mackglemry [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of William Venables in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_46_28\" id=\"identifier_46_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1754, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-28-83374\">47<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1759<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>George (II) Maglamry [sic] is shown in the Somerset County Court Tax List as a dependent in the household of William Adams in the Wicomico 100<a href=\"#footnote_47_28\" id=\"identifier_47_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Somerset County Court (Tax List), 1759, MSA C 1812, MSA No: C1812-31-92558\">48<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1761<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ezekiel McGlamre [sic] serves as a witness to the will of John Shockley on 19 Jan 1761 . The will is probated on 19 June 1766, and the notation is made that Ezekiel has since moved to Caroline<a href=\"#footnote_48_28\" id=\"identifier_48_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Will of John Shockley. Worcester County Will Book JW3, folios 128&ndash;129, in Jones, Sharon A.,&nbsp;Worcester County Wills, JW-3, 1759&ndash;1769, p. 39\">49<\/a>\u00a0or to Carolina<a href=\"#footnote_49_28\" id=\"identifier_49_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Will of John Shockley. Worcester County Will Book JW3, folio 128, in in Keddie, Leslie and Neil,&nbsp;Worcester County Wills,&nbsp;1759&ndash;1769, JW#3, F:1, p. 43\">50<\/a>. It is possible that this location is Caroline County, Maryland, or it is one of the Carolina colonies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1769<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The will of John (I) Meglamre [sic] is probated in Worcester County on 22 May 1769<a href=\"#footnote_50_28\" id=\"identifier_50_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Will of John Meglamre. Worcester County Will Book JW3, folios 193&ndash;194, in Jones, Sharon A.,&nbsp;Worcester County Wills, JW-3, 1759&ndash;1769, p. 58\">51<\/a>. He leaves two-thirds of 189 acres of Addition to Exchange to his son Edward (III) and the remaining third to his wife Sarah, who is also appointed executrix. The remaining 200 acres are to be sold for debts. Worcester County Will Book JW4, folio 127, in Keddie, Leslie and Neil,&nbsp;Worcester County Wills, JW4 Part I,&nbsp;1769&ndash;1774, p. 29\">55<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1783<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (III) McGlamery is listed in the tax roll of Somerset County as living alone in the Wicomico 100 as a renter on the property of Saul Davis<a href=\"#footnote_55_28\" id=\"identifier_55_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Dryden, Ruth T. 1783 Tax List for Somerset and Worcester Counties, Maryland,&nbsp;p. 90\">56<\/a><em>.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1788<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Matthias Auston [sic] (probably Austin) leaves five pounds to his daughter-in-law Unice Meglimmery [sic] in his will dated 29 October 1788<a href=\"#footnote_56_28\" id=\"identifier_56_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Will of Matthias Auston. Worcester County Will Book JW13, folio 148, in Keddie, Leslie and Neil, Worcester County, Maryland, Wills, 1783&ndash;1790, JW13, p. 32\">57<\/a>. The fact that Austin names Unice, who is the daughter of John (I) Meglamre, as his daughter-in-law but as a McGlamery rather than an Austin cannot be reconciled unless she is, in fact, a step-daughter and not a daughter-in-law. If so, then Austin married Sarah after John (I) McGlamery&#8217;s death.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1793<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anne Meglammery [sic] leaves the entirety of her estate to Col. George Dashiell and names him executor in her will of 3 November 1793<a href=\"#footnote_57_28\" id=\"identifier_57_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Will of Anne Meglammery. Worcester County Will Book JW18, folio 150, in Keddie, Leslie and Neil,&nbsp;Worcester County, Maryland, Wills, 1790&ndash;1795, JW18 (Part 1), p. 24\">58<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other facts about the McGlamerys of Maryland include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edward (II) and George (I) are both listed in many Somerset County tax rolls as living in the <em>hundred<\/em> known as Wicomico, which later became Wicomico County in 1867.<\/li>\n<li>George (I) disappears from the Somerset County tax rolls after 1740 because his residence becomes part of the new Worcester County, formed in 1742.<\/li>\n<li>Batchelder<a href=\"#footnote_58_28\" id=\"identifier_58_28\" class=\"footnote-link footnote-identifier-link\" title=\"Batchelder, Pauline Manning.
